Taste of Home

Sunday, 9-Jan: When I'm actually living the states, I rarely go to malls. But living abroad...sometimes you crave a lil bit of America. The military understands this, which is why they have things like this "mall" at the Ramstein air base. We go fairly frequently, especially during winter when little boys need to get some energy out. There is plenty of clean, indoor space for them to run and explore. They also have a kids play area. And of course...American resturants. They have a Macaroni Grill :) and a typical mall food court with Taco Bell, Baskin Robbins, etc. This time we ate at Johnny Rockets. Again, we never eat at Johnny Rockets or Macaroni Grill when we live in the states, lol, but when you're abroad...sometimes you just crave America. Ironically, when we get back to the states, these things will probably be a taste of home - GERMANY - for the boys :)
I know it's supposed to be one pic a day for the project, but I am including a few more because it was really fun to watch Reid walk around. It was our first time there since he started walking :)

Winter Walk

It was wet outside on Saturday but at least the snow and ice had melted...the first time it was safe to take Reid out to walk on his own since he started walking. He had a LOT of fun...but sadly it was stressful for me because for some reason there were massive numbers of piles of dog poo eeeeeverywhere!! It was horrifying! I guess people think they don't have to pick up poo in the winter?! It wasn't like this before. Yuck. Anyway, I also came across that little gem up there. I have traveled extensively throughout Germany over the years, and this is the first time I have ever seen that. (It's illegal here in Germany.)

Project 365: Resolutions

I'm working on returning to a more whole-foods-based diet. I guess when Reid was born and things were S-U-P-E-R crazy trying to learn to manage a baby and a toddler, I started relying on convenience foods more than I had been. Not like crazy sick stuff like cheese doodles or anything like that, lol. I have still been avoiding preservatives, artificial colors and flavors, HFCS, hydrogenated oils, and stuff like that, but we've been eating stuff like pasta with organic jarred sauce or whatever. I haven't been feeling very well and so I'm starting here - trying to get lots of fresh foods in our diet. With an eating disorder in my history, I'm treading lightly and trying to ADD positive habits rather than focusing on denying myself. That is a slippery slope for me.

Project 365: Activism

Tuesday, 4-Jan: Dropping off some letters at the airfield post office to try to stop taxpayer money from being used to mutilate baby boys' genitals.

Here we go....Project 365

Just yesterday I was complaining about how Reid was getting all toddlery on me. Not an hour later, he got sick (vomiting - yay) and immediately turned back into a baby again, wanting to just be held, nursed, and cuddled all day and night. Poor lil guy. He's doing a little bit better today, but still not himself as you can see.
